Covid-19 vaccines have been the subject of disinformation, misinformation, and plain ignorance. Here is the straight ‘skinny’, arranged by argument.
Let’s do some logical myth-busting
The Vaccines are untested/experimental. No, they’re really not. Even if you consider them rushed at the start, the vaccines currently available have gone into millions and millions of arms. We have identified the good, the bad, and the downright awful in the vaccines in a real-time setting.
The danger from the vaccines is worse than Covid! No, they really aren’t, PROVIDED you insist on aspiration to avoid inadvertent injection into a blood vessel. With AZ’s adenovirus vector, we now know injection into the blood will trigger Platelet Factor 4 to start clotting. With mRNA, it’s designed to ‘activate’ on contact with muscle tissue; if in the blood stream, the next muscle in line is the heart. Aspiration (checking the needle is not in a vessel) was standard practice until 5 years ago, and its removal from the standards of care make no sense. Most major complications can be avoided simply by asking your vaccinator to aspirate before pushing the vaccine in.
The effect of the vaccine is worse than Covid. No, it really isn’t. That’s from personal experience. I was relatively low symptoms, but the long-covid has kicked my butt, and the Pfizer jab set the symptoms off again. (The indications are that the specialised immune elements responding to the vaccine are getting attacked by the rest of the immune system if this happens – which is why my second shot was AZ; lots of fever and headaches, but no exacerbation of long-covid.)
Covid is just another cold. No, aside from basic maths and logic, it is not [yet] degraded or attenuated anywhere near the level to be considered a ‘cold’. Aside from the death, risk of long-term neurological, pulmonary, cardiac, liver and kidney damage, the liklihood of developing long-covid, and the autoimmune-like issues that are hitting massive swathes of the population post-covid, the idea that this is just another cold is absolutely devoid of reason.
